Welcome
Tapestry of Grace first appeared as a homeschooling product in 1998. Since then, it has gathered up a long roll of awards and accolades, satisfied users and educated students. Our founding authors, Scott and Marcia Somerville, attended Phillips Exeter Academy and Kent School (respectively), then met and married at Dartmouth. His degree was philosophy; hers was history.
Scott also studied at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and eventually took a degree from Harvard University in Constitutional Law so that he could become a Home School Legal Defense Association lawyer. While he pursued this career, Marcia began to design a classical Christian curriculum so that she could better educate their six children at home. By 2013, after twelve years of testing, optimization, and enthusiastic encouragement from other homeschoolers, the mature Tapestry of Grace curriculum was in use all over America.
We have served over 25,000 families since 1998. Many of them were educated in microschools, larger co-ops, or private schools, in America and around the world. We routinely hear stories about Tapestry of Grace alumni achieving great success on SAT and ACT tests, AP tests, college applications, and, of course, college campuses and careers. We thank God for this, but we are more excited by the stories we regularly hear about students who have learned to know, love, and trust God more through their studies with Tapestry of Grace.
Since 2020, we have been optimizing Tapestry of Grace to serve classical Christian co-ops and schools even better while also continuing to provide for the needs of individual homeschooling families. We now offer free services and assistance with ordering, onboarding students, or teacher training. We are also writing or compiling new spine texts so that groups of all kinds can decide whether to focus on just a few books or assign many books from our detailed Living Book options. Finally, we are always interested in new projects! (For example, we often write new book studies for works of literature upon request.) Whether you are shopping for two students or two hundred students, we love to customize or create for a group’s specific needs.
